ABS System Faults
ABS (Anti lock braking system) and ESP ( Electronic Stability Programme) are another critical part of your vehicle’s safety system.ABS helps you maintain steering under heavy braking without skidding thus helping you to maintain control of the vehicle.Research shows that 40 per cent of all fatal traffic accidents are caused by skidding. ESP works in conjunction with ABS and is designed to intervene when your vehicle begins to lose traction with the road, allowing you to maintain control. it can also be known as VSA ( Vehicle stability assist) DSC ( Dynamic stability control) or VSC (Vehicle stability control) depending on what make of vehicle you drive. ESP can prevent up to 80 percent of all skid related crashes. The ESP system is very complex,it monitors signals from sensors and checks 25 times a second, and can react immediately when it sees a critical situation,, independently of the driver ,by using the vehicle’s brakes to steer the vehicle back on track. If you have one of these lights illuminated the system has detected a fault and your ABS/ESP system WILL NOT work. Apart from it being very unsafe, it is also a NCT failure, our advice is to have it diagnosed immediately.
